WR Custom Shop Special

Our Wide Range with 50mm pole spread, we also have 47.5mm and 53mm

4-July-2022:  We are now offering Kinman Custom Shop specials to Customers who want a Wide Range form factor that produces a sound of their choosing.  We will design the bobbins and coils to provide the sound and performance you like.  A few options include the following ....

• a new type of our fabulous highly dynamic Twang-Bucker that has adjustable pole screws.
• our fabulous and dynamic P90-Bucker.
• any of our more conventional humbuckers such as 59+ LPS and P.A.F Plus and Big Little Terror and  Big Little Ripper. 
• we can even make an improved version of Fender's original Wide Range (even more clarity and dynamics)
• and 7 string models too

Improvements:  the original Fender Wide range had excessively wide pole spread which causes some strings to miss the pole pieces altogether, this is especially true with narrow bridges.  Our five pole spreads are designed to provide perfect string-over-pole alignment like we use on our existing P-90 and Humbucker models regardless of narrow or wide bridges.  Learn about our other 5 improvements in this What's New? article

• 47.5mm for neck of Gibson and similar guitars that have narrow 54mm or less bridges
• 50mm for neck or bridge as required by the type of bridge
• 53mm bridge for bridge of a Strat that has 6 point 56.4mm vintage bridge
• 62mm for 7 string bridge
• 60mm & 58mm for 7 string neck

Technical & Application info:

 All models have absolute Zero-Hum.  Enhanced Split Single Coil (ESSC) is not hum cancelling.

WR Humbucker (with optional ESSC) and a single or double row of pole screws.
    Heavy:  Clear and well defined dirty growl for the bridge position (no mud).   Rock, Reggae, Pop, Jazz, Country, Indie,
    Lite:  Bright, sweet and beautiful tone and it’s very dynamic with a very bouncy low wound string sound.  Well behaved in the neck position
              and absolutely no slop or messy bass side sounds.  Rock, Reggae, Pop, Jazz, Country, Indie, Instrumental.
    Custom:  Any conventional humbucker sound you can think

WR P90-Bucker
    three sounds available, dirty growl Heavy Bridge, Clean Bridge and Sweet Neck.  All produce a very clear and highly dynamic sound with
    uncommon touch sensitivity.

WR Twang-Bucker
    Twango Intenso, strong sharp twang with heaps of presence and dynamics from both neck and "Whopper" bridge models.

WR Jazz
    Uniquely beautiful, sweet sound without too many piano mid-tones from the Low wound strings

Our pickups are over engineered and designed carefully so that wax potting has no detrimental effect on sound.  All Kinman's are wax potted and you have the freedom to utterly saturated their sound in distortion without a hint of microphonic feedback or howl.

Our covers are made of Nickel-Silver and we make our own non-magnetic base-plates so there is no degradation of tonal nuances ... and as well we also make magnetic base-plates that enhance tone and performance of some models.

•    4 pieces (3-48 UNC) mounting screws, Phillips drive (3 is preferable but you can use 3 or 4 if you prefer)
•    Silicon rubber tube springs

Hook-up wires (allows phase reversing)
•     Robust single wires for soldering, requires effective shielding in wiring tunnels to prevent electrical buzz
•     3conductor shielded cable with or without Kinman Harness Plug.  Wiring tunnel shielding not required

Cover options
•     Hand buffed Nickel-Silver.  Best sonic performance and immunity to feedback screech.  Suitable for relic-ing and deliberate aging
•     Will lose it's mirror-like polish naturally in a few months unless you maintain it with occasional application of clear liquid guitar polish
•     With or without Kinman logo

Pot & Capacitor values
•     Best with 250k Ohm volume pot.  500k for thinner sound and a little less spank/punch.
•     Tone pot is usually the same value as the volume but for a little more top end brightness can be 1meg or No-Load.
•     Stock pots can actually measure as low as 130k.  Pots in our Goodbye-Soldering Harness are guaranteed to measure no less that 250k.
•     Normal tone cap value of 0.022uF, 63 ~ 100 volt Polyester.  Smaller uF value lessen the severity of Treble cut, higher values increase it.
•     The voltage rating of Caps is not important but 63 ~ 100 volt have thicker lead wires that are easy to work with and just look better.

Output Polarity
•     Phase reversible so it's compatible with any other pickup regardless of brand or type
